The week of February 21 – 27 marks National Eating Disorders Awareness week, a week selected by NEDA to spread awareness and encourage people to be screened. The simple and confidential eating disorder screening takes only three minutes; it allows individuals to recognize potential eating disorder issues and seek treatment. Eating disorders and disordered eating are not always well understood on the whole; food issues often go hand and hand with other mental health challenges. They also have the highest mortality rate of any mental disorder. Recovery is possible through effective treatment programs, so let’s raise awareness and support surrounding this critical topic.
