Intensive Outpatient Program in Los Angeles

A person must know about his/her addiction level before selecting any treatment program. Vantage Point Recovery Center based in Los Angeles offers many types of addiction treatment based on addiction severity. Our IOP Treatment Program is specially designed for persons having moderate levels of addiction, or ones who have completed their residential program and do not require 24/7 medical supervision.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our IOP program operates three days a week, three hours per day, Monday through Friday. The Intensive Outpatient Program is ideal for individuals either needing a little more structured support beyond therapy or as a step down from a higher level of care. IOP Treatment is designated to offer clients an opportunity to practice their new coping skills while in a supportive environment.

Vantage Point takes special consideration to ensure that you feel your specific concerns are attended to while undergoing an intensive outpatient program. It is not just about treating the person but addressing the concerns within their system (work, family, relationships, etc.).

Let’s get an overview about intensive outpatient program.

What is Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

While inpatient treatment solutions involve special residential programs, and in severe cases the need for hospitalization, an outpatient treatment program is focused on providing a comprehensive treatment plan that doesn’t or only minimally interferes with your responsibilities in life, so you can keep working and living with your loved ones while you seek treatment.

IOP Programs offer opportunities to integrate evidence-based and holistic modalities such as Yoga, Mindfulness, and various creative therapies.

Who is Eligible for IOP Treatment?

Intensive outpatient treatment programs are specially designed for those substance abusers who are moderately addicted. Or the one who believe they still need therapies after completing their residential recovery program.

This program is ideal for motivated individuals seeking community, connection, and structured support in a safe and confidential environment. The IOP is not recommended for individuals who are seriously addicted and may harm themselves or others.

The IOP Approach by Vantage Point:

Through our outpatient program – and throughout the entirety of Vantage Point – the focus of our treatment modalities lies within you, and what makes your specific case unique. Our intensive outpatient program isn’t built on a strict framework of what we think is the best way to treat a disease – it’s built around you, your circumstances and needs, and what treatment best responds to you and your disorder.

Our approach is careful, calculated, and thorough. We don’t make any serious decisions lightly, and we certainly don’t advocate simplified cookie cutter treatment plans. Therapies we use in the IOP Program:

Our IOP treatment center in Los Angeles provides a variety of therapy options depending on your particular cases. For many mental illnesses, psychotherapy options like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy show excellent results in the long-term and help you ultimately modify your perspective towards life and your condition. Therapies can also help you tackle and cope with deeper issues in a safe, healthy way, and desensitize yourself to traumas.

Medication Therapy

Medication:

Medication management is a supportive and relevant intervention that can improve symptoms related to mental illness and substance use. While the IOP treatment does not include Psychiatry, we do work with many providers that offer their support and services to our clients. The evidence does support that individuals that participate in both medication management and therapy typically have substantial improvements in mood and functioning.

Alternative Treatments:

As an alternative to the usual therapy options, we have a wide range of effective alternative treatments, from energy therapy to art therapy, mindfulness training, meditation, and yoga. What does and doesn’t work is different from case to case, but if you want to give an alternative a try, we have trained professionals and experts here to assist you in alternative treatment.

Cutting Edge Treatments:

Understanding the role of complex trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, severe addiction and the like requires the integration of cutting-edge interventions that can get results. That is why expanding our strategies to incorporate Brainspotting, Trauma Resilience, Mindfulness and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are critical in our successful outcomes.

Lifestyle Modification:

Addressing the physical self and the daily activities in your life, can go a long way to boost your confidence – and by extension, take control of your life – but it can also help you mitigate the effects of diagnoses like anxiety and depression. Our case managers work closely with our IOP Program clients in order to provide access to resources to better manage your outside world. They work diligently to ensure that our Intensive Outpatient Program is benefitting you not only from what you get on the inside but how you benefit from the outside.

VP-Core Treatment Modalities

DBT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy. It is an evidence-based therapy mainly used to treat people with personality disorders. This therapy was invented by Marsha Linehan, PHD to help people with mood disorders and suicidal ideation. Following her intention, we at vantage point recovery center offer DBT, proven therapy for people suffering from depression, stress, anxiety, social anxiety, substance abuse etc.

DBT Group is focused on enhancing clients’ capabilities by teaching them behavioral skills. It is the hope that clients will utilize the learned skills to address individual change in behavioral, emotional, thinking, and interpersonal patterns associated with problems in daily living.

This group focuses on Cognitive Behavioral techniques to assist clients in becoming more aware of their unhealthy patterns of thinking allowing them to take a pro-active role in changing their thought patterns which in turn will have a positive effect on their feelings and behaviors.

Acceptance and Commitment is based on the philosophy that acceptance is a precondition for healthy change. By assisting clients in cultivating greater acceptance of themselves, others, and the conditions of their lives, they can begin to commit to positive changes from exactly where they are, one step at a time. In order to promote changes that are in alignment with a client’s authentic self, the group also focuses on values-based living. Identification of personal values helps guide clients in setting meaningful goals as they move forward on their unique path.

Is a directive client centered therapy which utilizes interventions that address ambivalence to move the client from one stage of change to another. It is very effective in addressing maladaptive behaviors because it meets the clients where they are at.

Art therapy is a non-threatening process, which provides for tangible communication. It is a modality with qualities for reparation, transformation and self-exploration. It is safe because the emphasis is on the process and not the art product. The essence of art therapy is to allow the unaccepted bits of self to come together and be seen in a safe and shared space, towards integration and mindfulness.

Evidence of research, suggest that the use of arts can increase physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being as well as reduce adverse outcomes such as stress and delinquency or recidivism. In addition, the use of arts and folk narratives can help remediate the psychological wounds of trauma and health ailments. Art therapy is a dynamic therapy, requiring one to participate in one’s own treatment, in this case through art making.

In most art therapy sessions, the focus is on participants’ inner experiences, feelings, perceptions, and imagination. Participation in art therapy develops new skills and self-confidence, providing relief from fear, anxiety and depression through the art making process, and as such offers a way to know oneself from a new perspective.

This group helps clients acquire daily living skills that are necessary to ensure stability and promote growth. They often involve skills used to maintain healthy relationships, promote a positive self-image, and engage in regular self-care.

This group focuses on helping clients increase their awareness of internal and external triggers to unhealthy behavior patterns such as drug and alcohol use and mental distress. Clients will begin to understand their unhealthy behavior as ineffective attempts to soothe themselves and their emotions. Clients will learn to develop and practice alternative behaviors and coping skills to achieve self-soothing when their triggers have been activated.

Each session includes an individualized treatment plan that aids client to ensure they are made aware of their treatment goals. Case management sessions also include a comprehensive overview of individual’s compliance in the Vantage Point program and to discuss any barriers to treatment. The goal of a case manager is to achieve client wellness through the following means:

  • empowering a client to self-advocate
  • communicating directly with the individual and the available resources
  • identifying available resources that will meet the individual’s needs
  • educating the services providers on the needs of the individual
  • educating the individual on the available service providers and agencies in the community
  • facilitating the connection between the individual and the community services

The intention of coaching sessions is to help the client clear everything that is holding them back or blocking them from using their creative power. It is to simply get directions to what they are supposed to be doing and to put creativity in everything they do in life.

The sessions will take clients beyond life coaching to a whole new level of understanding their true creative power. Clients will be guided to wake up to who they really are, and create a life they desire from that inspired and expanded place. The process of these sessions is to awaken the clients to the healing power of their own creativity, and be guided by it in the journey of life, while allowing life to unfold as they remain open to limitless creative possibilities along the way. Clients will learn to prepare for this journey by providing an inner atmosphere of freedom, in which they may receive and express new perceptions and ideas, and of course to creatively manifest their goals and dreams.

Hypnotherapy is therapeutic modality in which a therapist guides a client’s imagination, thus producing a deep state of relaxation, in order to facilitate certain intended changes in thoughts, behavior, sensations, or feelings in the client. Hypnosis is a state of deep attention, which is induced by a certified and trained professional. For many people, the mind is highly receptive to suggestion and therefore suggestions offered to someone during a hypnotic state can be used to help that person reach their goals. This modality is often used among psychologists, therapists, and alternative forms of healers.

Mindfulness is calm present awareness and exploration of one’s body functions, feelings, thoughts surroundings and consciousness itself. Clinical research shows that mindfulness techniques can help alleviate anxiety, stress and depression. Silent and conversational user-friendly interventions are used to practicing the art of conscious awareness in real-time.

Energy Healing is a form of alternative healing, commonly being used by more and more health and wellness professionals. It is a therapeutic treatment form that works with a person’s energy field. The therapist or healing professional uses a variety of methods to channel healing energy into a person’s energy field. He or she might also direct unhealthy or dysfunctional energy out of a person’s energy field. Energy Healing can be done through using a hands-on approach, hands-off, or distant (where the healing professional and the client are in different locations). Depending on the setting, Energy healing may also be called energy therapy, spiritual healing, and energy medicine. Two forms of Energy Healing are Pranic Healing and Reiki. Energy Healing should be used in conjunction with appropriate medical or psychological treatment.
